Set between two bay windows, the front door opens into a porch leading to the elegant hallway and stairs to the first floor. Doors open on either side to the big living room and ground floor bedroom with a corridor leading to the cloakroom and well equipped kitchen/dining room at the back of the house. Accommodation on the first floor is generous with the master bedroom and a twin at the front with great views from the bay windows; another twin and two luxurious bathrooms are at the top of the stairs.
Forest Lodge is situated on Godyll Road, a quiet road on the outskirts of Southwold; there’s off road parking for a large car close to the garden gate and additional cars can generally be parked on the roadside at the front. A low wall and patio sets the house back from the road and the garden at the back is a good size with plenty of space for the kids to play and adults to enjoy relaxing in the sea air, with a table and chairs provided for al fresco dining.
The front door opens into a practical porch before leading into the impressive hallway with high ceilings and staircase leading to the first floor landing. Doors to either side of the front door open into the living room and the ground floor bedroom; the corridor continues to the back of the house where there’s a cloakroom and the kitchen/dining room with two sets of doors opening to the garden and path leading to the gate and private parking space.
An elegant double aspect room with views of the common to the front and double doors opening into the garden at the back, making it ideal for the summer months whilst the handsome fireplace allows you to enjoy an open fire in the cooler days. Large rugs cover the oak floorboards and the room’s comfortably furnished with large sofas, a chair, footstool, coffee tables, cabinets and shelves heaving with books for you to enjoy. Equipment includes a flat screen TV with DVD player, a Bose sound system and internet access.
The sun streams into this lovely large L shaped room with the dining area, housing a refectory table and ten chairs, set between doors on both sides opening into the garden – ideal for dining in the sea air during the warmer months.
The kitchen area is very well equipped with a modern base units and built in electric oven at waist height, microwave, a hob with four gas rings and extractor fan, dishwasher and washing machine. There’s a free standing fridge with separate freezer compartment below and the pantry is stacked with crockery and glassware.

Ground floor bedroom
The south facing sash bay window is a lovely feature in this bedroom where you can while away the time sitting in the chair or sofa with blanket chest positioned between them. The room’s furnished with a double bed and has plenty of storage in built in wardrobes and cupboards plus a rug on the wooden floorboards.
Wide carpeted stairs with an ornate balustrade and hand rail rise to the first floor landing where doors open to the three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A couple of chairs are positioned by the window overlooking the common where you can relax with a book or watch the world go by.
Huge sash windows give a panoramic view of the common, golf course and water tower from this large room with zip and link super king bed giving you the option of twin or double configuration. There’s a desk which doubles up as a dressing table, chair, bedside table and built in wardrobe.
Wonderfully positioned at the front with amazing views of the Common and Walberswick to the distance. This spacious room has a king size sleigh bed, bedside drawers, a dressing table with chair and built in wardrobe with bags of hanging and shelving.
En Suite Bathroom
A luxurious bathroom with large bath, central taps and hand shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rails. The frosted glass window over the garden gives natural light and doors open to the master bedroom as well as the landing to give privacy or allow other guests to use this bathroom.
Well positioned for use by guests in the double and twin bedrooms on the first floor; there’s a step down to this exceptionally large bathroom with bath and hand shower plus a double shower cubicle with shower rose, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and frosted glass window allowing the light to stream in.
Another large bedroom with twin beds and bedside tables plus built in wardrobe with hanging space and shelves. The big sash window overlooks the garden at the back of Forest Lodge.
Forest Lodge has a lovely large and private garden, mostly laid to lawn with established shrubs and a patio area furnished with table and chairs, easily accessible from the living room and kitchen/dining room. A path leads to a gate giving access to the parking space. At the front is a small garden with shrubs, separating the house from Godyll Road at the front where there’s usually additional parking.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity, plus a welcome local made Cake/Bread milk, tea and coffee to help you get your break off to a relaxing start. We recommend that you bring your own beach towels.
The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and grill, gas rings and extractor fan, dishwasher, good sized fridge and separate freezer, a free standing microwave and washing machine.

This exceptional holiday home is in a fantastic quiet location next to Southwold Common with views of the heath land, the sea and Walberswick in the distance as well as the golf course next to the house where you can play 9 holes.
You can walk into the heart of the vibrant town where there are excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as a range of galleries and independent shops, including clothing shops, bakeries, butchers and supermarkets. The sandy beach, adorned with a string of colourful beach huts that lead along to the Pier at one end and towards Southwold Harbour at the other, is an easy walk away.
There is also a pretty walk through the harbour and over a footbridge to the picture-postcard village of Walberswick, home to two good pubs, a long sandy beach and fish huts along the harbour where guests can buy fresh fish.
