Snape is one of east Suffolk's most sought after villages famous for the Maltings, just a short walk from 4 Rose Tree Cottages, which have been developed into the home of the Aldeburgh Festival and are now the host for a renowned calendar of music events, but also surrounding the concert hall are many boutique shops and the Plough and Sail gastro pub.
There are many beautiful walks along the River Alde through Snape Warren, just minutes from this holiday cottage, an exciting new RSPB reserve where they're recreating important wetland and heathland areas, as well as the idyllic and famous Sailors Path, a wonderful four mile walk towards Aldeburgh – highly recommended! Cycle paths criss cross the whole area and, if you don't want to bring your own bikes, you can hire them from Avocet Sports in the village. For those wanting to mess about on the river canoes and kayaks can be hired at Iken Canoe, just five minutes away.
The village of Snape has two excellent pubs, The Golden Key and Crown - both within sight of the cottage, and a well stocked village shop just up the road - perfect for morning papers and fresh bread.
Aldeburgh and Orford are both a short drive away and offer a wide range of excellent restaurants and cultural attractions, which in the case of Aldeburgh includes golf, sailing and arts festivals and, in Orford, Ruth Watson's excellent Crown and Castle, the Butley Oysterage and Orford Ness – all well worth visiting.
A well-behaved dog is welcome downstairs. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.
Some of the door frames are typically low for a cottage and the ceiling’s low as you climb the stairs so mind your head!
A section of the garden is allocated to parking for a small/medium size car (the owners' park an Audi A6 there). A second car can be parked on the road by the green or on a nearby lane where there's lots of unrestricted parking. ,
Sorry, no smoking or unaccompanied teenagers.
